| No Comments“Apple,” “Suri,” and even “Bronx Mowgli” can’t compare to the moniker Uma Thurman has chosen for her new baby girl. It’s so strange, so alliterative, and so long that I’m certain it has to qualify as the most unusual celebrity baby name of all time — even though there’s been plenty of competition.
The name, in full: Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson, “better known to family and friends as Luna,” according to a statement the actress’s rep gave People. Oh, naturally… Luna! Thurman and boyfriend Arpad Busson have been waiting since the baby’s birth on July 15 to reveal what they’re calling her, presumably because they came up with one new name each month since then (and two in October!).
Here’s an explanation for those three “A” names in the middle: Arusha is a city in Tanzania. Arkadina is the surname of a character in Anton Chekhov’s play The Seagull. Altalune may be a variation on “alta luna,” Italian for “high moon” — and the name of a brand of wine.
